Our first free day! We went to ChristChurch this morning for a 2 hour service, which was longer than I expected, but interesting. After lunch at the school, I went by myself to explore the citadel, now occupied by the Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem. The present structure dates from the 14th century, but excavations show remains from the 2nd century BC and indicate that there was a fortress here in Herodian times. This was most likely the site of Jesus' trial and condemnation. I spent the rest of the afternoon writing up the last few days (even though I'm auditing the course, I still have to write an impression report for each field study, and apparently, this counts!).
